Commemoration Day

On a Monday morning 11th of March all year 7 & 8's and some other students from Otaki College attended a Commemoration day for all the people who fought or died during the war of the SS Otaki.

The sequence of events:

First Whaea Maha and Whaea Destine did a karanga for the Navy, Meyer and Air force to welcome them into our Community and School.
Secondly all the visitors sang us the national anthem to thank us for allowing them to enter our school.
Then we sang them 2 songs I cant remember the first song but the second song we sang was called Ko tenei te wa to welcome them
Lastly we all had a karakia i dont remember what for but i think it was a thank you and a we will remember the ones we lost.

1 thing I enjoyed: I enjoyed singing loud for all the visitors
1 thing I learned: I learned that the SS Otaki had no defence or anything on the boat.
